Baltimore’s community leaders met with Obama administration officials on Monday, June 6, 2016, to discuss social entrepreneurship and how business efforts can help build, strengthen and tackle social issues within our communities. Officials met with young social entrepreneurs to discuss new initiatives in Baltimore that creating new jobs, improving the education system, cutting down on crime and bettering health.
One of the speakers included local entrepreneur Sarah Hemminger, co-founder of Thread, is making her mark on Baltimore. She’s created a nonprofit that takes in students who rank in the bottom quarter of their class and provides them with whatever they need to succeed and graduate high school, including rides to school, supplies and even providing housing.
